Seated Cat-Cow
This is a classic for a reason. It gently moves your spine, waking up your back and core muscles.
- •Sit at the edge of your chair with your feet flat on the floor.
- •Place your hands on your knees.
- •Inhale - arch your back, push your chest forward, and look up slightly (Cow).
- •Exhale - round your spine, tuck your chin to your chest, and pull your belly button in (Cat).
- •Repeat 5-8 times, linking your breath to the movement.
The “Look Away” Neck Stretch
Perfect for releasing the tension that builds up from staring at a screen.
- •Sit up tall. Gently drop your right ear toward your right shoulder.
- •To deepen the stretch, slowly turn your chin down toward your right collarbone, like you're looking into your shirt pocket.
- •Hold for 20-30 seconds. You should feel a nice stretch along the left side and back of your neck.
- •Repeat on the other side.
Seated Hip Opener (Figure-4)
This one attacks the tight hips and glutes that come from constant sitting.
- •Sit tall at the edge of your chair.
- •Cross your right ankle over your left knee, creating a “figure 4” shape.
- •Keep your right foot flexed to protect your knee.
- •If this is enough of a stretch, just hold it here. To go deeper, gently hinge forward at your hips with a straight back until you feel a stretch in your right glute.
- •Hold for 30 seconds, then switch sides.
